The Social Ministry began with Mr. Phil Juculta and a small group of parishioners who wishes to do something for the poor and the needy within St. John the Baptist Church. In the beginning, Mr. Phil and his group were asking the parishioners of St. John for a donation of one can goods once a month. Many people have answered their request and have donated. As the ministry became more organized, the Social Ministry was able to make some connections with the local Food Bank located near Nimitz Highway. With the connection with the local Food Bank, the Social Ministry has access to more supplies of can goods. Hence, the portion of each giving to the customers has more nutritious can goods. Now, the Social Ministry has expanded in number of members who volunteered every Wednesday from 10:30am to 12:30pm every week to help serve the poor and the needy, except the second (2nd) Wednesday of each month when they have the Senior Food Box drive through from 11:00am to 12:30pm.
